FAQs
Why choose NW Movement Co?
Simply put - we want you to achieve your goals just as much as you want to (and sometimes even more!)! You will not find another clinic that provides this level of care - one on one with your PT for the entire visit with your specific goals in our sights the entire time. Our goal is to give you the means and understanding and confidence to reach your goals - whatever they may be!
At NW Movement Co, you will be seen by our doctor of physical therapy for your entire visit. You will not be shuffled off to a therapy tech or aid or have to share your visit with another patient. Each visit will be geared specifically to your needs to help set you up to continue treatment and healing at home until your next visit.
You get results quicker. With more time spent each visit with your PT, without co-treatments, your average discharge rate compared to other clinics in the area is almost half the time!
The most important thing you will receive is knowledge and skills to keep you moving as healthy and pain free as possible. Our goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible, without you needing any healthcare professional long term for your relief.
What is Physio?
Physio is what the rest of the world calls physical therapy. We think it sounds a little cooler than physical therapy. While we obviously love physical therapy, we know that a lot of our patients have come from negative experiences with physical therapy and it’s a small way that we distance ourselves from the traditional physical therapy clinic.
What is Performance Physical Therapy?
Performance physical therapy is a hybrid rehab and training model that allows us to treat you as a whole person in any way that you need. Performance physical therapy takes a holistic approach in treatment allowing us to customize our specific treatments and interventions to your needs regardless of your activities of choice.
Through our performance physical therapy model, we will not only help you get ready, but we will also help you stay ready! Often times this involves getting out of pain and staying out of pain. We don’t have to stop progress because you are out of pain just to send you home on your own and wait for your pain to come back. We work beyond the point of your pain stopping and work further into progressing your strength and performance so that your pain does not return. And so that you can go on to do those really fun things you want to do! We believe at our core that movement is the best medicine.
What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
Pelvic floor physical therapy is a specialized area of physical therapy that focuses on the rehabilitation of problems related to the pelvic floor. First off, everyone has a pelvic floor. And second off, everyone should have a pelvic floor that functions without pain or dysfunction. This is where pelvic floor physical therapy swoops in to save the day. Coupled with our performance physical therapy (above), you can count on any pelvic floor issues being taken care of by NW Movement Co!
Do you only work with athletes?
We believe that anyone with a body is an athlete. So whether your goals are to climb Mt. Rainier, PR your back squat, play pickleball with your buddies on the weekend, ski with your kids, or walk with your grandkids at Disney World, we want to help you move and live your best life.
Our goal is to help you get ready and stay ready! If that’s your goal, then we’re ready to work with you!
What should I expect in an appointment?
Your first appointment (evaluation) will last roughly 90 minutes and your follow up appointment(s) will last roughly 60 minutes. The entire time will be spent with your PT. You will be very active in each session so wear clothes that you’re ready to move in. During each visit, our sights are set on your goals. At the end of each visit, you’ll be given exercises for to work on until your next appointment - think of it as the medicine that we want you taking until we see you again.
We do not use passive modalities (like hot packs or ice) or aides/techs in your care because we believe your time is very valuable and should be spent making lasting changes towards fixing your problem(s).
Can I do injury prevention or wellness sessions?
Absolutely! At NW Movement Co, we are an active group with a love for being outdoors! There’s nothing worse than being sidelined from your favorite activity because of an injury - especially an injury that could have been prevented! Be sure to check out our EVENTS page to see our upcoming workshops.
Does NW Movement Co accept my health insurance?
In short, no. In long (and why), keep reading. NW Movement Co is an out-of-network provider. We believe that providing patients with one on one care is best for their healing and rehab. We work for our patients; not for their insurance.
Typically, insurance dictates therapy treatment with most in-network therapy clinics needing to see 3-4 patients an hour to be profitable. This means a large portion of your time at these in-network clinics is spent performing the same exercises each visit either alone or with a therapy tech supervising you. This also means needing to come to therapy multiple times per week in order to make progress through your plan.
Being out-of-network allows us to provide you our undivided attention for the duration of the visit. We are able to treat you how we feel is best without insurance dictating our every move.
With more dedicated time, in-depth treatment, and therapy geared towards patient ownership of their care, our patients are able to reach goals in less time, with less visits, and often go farther.
We have not had anyone regret the investment they made in us and in themselves.
What is cash-based physical therapy?
In a cash-based treatment model, our patients pay us for our services. NW Movement Co is hired by the patient to assist in achieving their goals. There’s a saying that when you pay, you pay attention. You take it a lot more serious and so do we!
Why would I pay out of pocket when I can use my insurance at another clinic?
NW Movement Co is cash-based (out-of-network) because it allows us to treat you the way we think you should be treated. Here’s what we offer that local insurance based physical therapy clinics don’t -
One on one 60-90 minute sessions with your doctor of physical therapy. You’ll never share your time with another patient, and you’ll never work with a tech or aide who is supervising you do the same exercises you’re doing at home.
Treatment is based on your goals. If you want to get out of pain and go (insert something really cool that you like to do), we’ll get you there! Insurance is only interested in getting you out of pain. We’ve had a lot of patients do a lot of really cool things!
Truly individualized and specific treatment. Ever wonder why the exercises that helped your friend get out of back pain didn’t help you? It’s because every body is different. We like to call it “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Thus cookie cutter exercises are rarely the solution to anyone’s issues. You have to do the right exercise the right way.
You apply what you understand. Imagine your mechanic tells you to come back into the garage so that he can explain everything he’s doing to your car so that you fully understand it and can do it on your own next time. That’s how highly we value and emphasize educating you with everything that we’re doing and what we’re expecting you to do as well.
Availability. Have a question between appointments? Or appreciate someone checking in with you to see how you’re doing after your appointment? We’re here for our patients!
Save time. Often times, we see our patients once per week. What if we could accomplish your goals without you having to come to 2-3 appointments every week? We like to think that all of our patients really love coming to see us, but we know that given the opportunity to have an hour or more of time to do anything else, they’ll probably do anything else.
Cost transparency. We’ll give you an estimate of our prices during your initial phone call and confirm the cost of our agreed upon plan at your evaluation. No more co-pays 2-3 times per week for the next 2-3 months with a surprise bill in the mail several months later.
How much does each session cost?
Our services range in price. Please contact NW Movement Co for pricing.
Payment is required at or before the time of service. Our payment is based on 90 minute evaluations and 60 minute sessions with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Can I submit my visits to insurance?
Yes. If your insurance has out of network benefits, we are happy to provide a superbill to you that you can submit to them.
Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
Yes!
Do I need a referral to be seen at NW Movement Co?
No. In the state of Washington you are able to be evaluated and treated without a referral.
